Alexander Povetkin V Bermane Stiverne is set for December 17th for the WBC Interim Heavyweight Title. Both haven’t  fought in a year so ring rust could be aparrent in the both of them. Povetkin was supposed to fight WBC Heavyweight Title holder Deontay Wilder earlier this year but the fight fell through when Povetkin tested positive for a banned substance.

Bermane Stiverne’s last outing was against Derric Rossy in a unanimous 10 round decision victory but it wasn’t convincing. Prior to that, Stiverne lost his WBC title to Deontay Wilder by unanimous decision. This is was the first time anyone had ever taken Deontay Wilder the distance. For the sake of something new, I hope Povetkin comes through the fight to fight Wilder as it would be a tougher test as Povetkin is a tricky Heavyweight.

Povetkin’s only career defeat is at the hands of Wladimir Klitschko. But he is still one of the top contenders in the division, a fight with Wilder would be Wilders toughest test yet.
