Terry Flanagan is the WBO Lightweight champion that is signed to fight under Boxnation. He is in a strong division of world champions and there is some excellent match ups, but is his career going to waste?
Flanagan isn’t getting any younger, and his career isn’t getting any better. His defences of his titles since winning have been pretty laughable really, and at no fault of his own. He fights this later this month against Orlando Cruz on the undercard of Billy Joe Saunders first defence of his WBO Middleweight Title.
Flanagan is from Manchester, like fellow former WBA Lightweight Champion Anthony Crolla. Both men from Manchester and went to the same school should have been a promoters dream. The building blocks are already there but due to political reasons or egos, the fight could not get made between Eddie Hearn and Frank Warren.
Flanagans career seems to be another fighter unfortunately behind held back due to poor promotion and not a lot of coverage. Terry isn’t that well known on the world scene and it’s a great shame as his talent is obviously of world level, it’s just disappointing at the peak of his career he is fighting journeymen.
