Edging ever closer to this Saturdays fight of the year for the WBA, WBO and IBF Light Heavyweight Titles, news in from Kovalev’s promoter is that there is a rematch clause in place.
If the fight is an absolute stinker, which it has a lot of potential to be, the calls for a rematch won’t be in as high demand as the call for the first fight would have had. The fight between the two seems to be the big talking point for 2017 world boxing and there’s a lot of hope riding on this Saturday.
Kovalevs promoter has said that they had every intention of protecting his title belts, and ensuring that they made sure a rematch clause was in place if Sergey looses. However if Sergey wins, aparrently the rematch may not be as certain. The fight will start live in the UK around 2pm with the main event looking to be around 4-5am.
Ward is still coming in at the slight favourite with the bookmakers odds, but it’s a real 50/50. Tony Bellew has also said he thinks Andre Ward is unbeatable and many also think he will retire undefeated. I’m very excited for Saturday!
