Joseph Parker and Bob Arum have come together and secured a deal with the veteran hall of fame promoter ensuring that come Saturday, he will have a Heavyweight champion.
Arum, The CEO of Top Rank Boxing is also the promoter of Andy Ruiz Jr who Parker fights on Saturday for the vacant WBO Heavyweight Title and the fight will be co-promoted by Top Rank and Duco Events.
Parker was mandatory challenger for Anthony Joshua’s IBF title but vacated that in a bid to win the vacant WBO title since it was stripped from Tyson Fury. The WBO originally sanctioned the winner of this fight to face David Haye in 140 days but since his fight with Tony Bellew has been announced, its unaware if that’s still going to take place.
If Haye is not going to be granted the shot still, the next in line will be Hughie Fury, but as his social media says, he is chasing the WBC route by calling out undefeated American Heavyweight Deontay Wilder.
Arum has said he hopes to build Parker’s profile in China and America and is hoping to bring a fight back to the States providing he comes through successfully on Saturday, but judging by the signing, I think Arum is quite confident he will.
