Former Puerto Rican world champion Miguel Cotto returns after a year out of the sport since loosing his WBC Middleweight Title to Canelo Alvarez and on his return he will be facing James Kirkland.

Not exactly the fight we were all hoping for but Kirkland has a record of 32-2 (28ko’s) and will certainly come throwing bangs but the thing that’s really annoyed fans is the fact that this fight will be on pay per view.

Kirkland’s last time in the ring was also last year against Canelo Alvarez were he suffered a vicious third round knockout so it’s not really too clear why Cotto has decided to take on an opponent that got laid out by someone he lost his title to.

Cotto is signed to Roc Nation and this will be his last fight within their contract, however Roc Nation have guaranteed Cotto a $10 million dollar payday which is why the are forced to put it on pay per view.
