Jeff Horn minutes ago defeated Ali Funeka in a sixth round stoppage after the referee called it off when Funeka took a viscous combo.
Bob Arum was ringside watching on as Horn is now in line to be facing Manny Pacquiao in the near future for his WBO World strap and Arum is looking to do work with Duco events. Horn has worked his way up the rankings and is number 2 in the IBF behind Errol Spence, and is ranked very highly in the WBO.
It wasn’t a fight to shout about really, Horn dealt with his problems well after taking a knockdown at the end of the third round. Debatable whether it was a headclash or a body shot but the referee gave him the count just as the bell went.
In round five Funeka ended up on the deck twice, one of which the referee ruled a slip and in the mean time the both had suffered quite bad eye cuts due to repeatedly clashing of the heads, completely accidental however. Then in the 6th round Horn finished the job, exciting little fighter but on the back of that, he shouldn’t be going for the big dogs too soon.
