The promoters of Bulgarian Heavyweight Kubrat Pulev have announced that the winner of the mega fight next year must face Pulev immediately with no interim fights inbetween.
This comes since in Joshua V Klitschko the WBA Super Heavyweight belt will be on the line and Pulev recently picked up the WBA Inter Continental title against a very old and overweight Samuel Peter earlier this month.
Pulev has a record of 24-1-0 (13ko’s) which isn’t a massive knockout ratio in a division of 17-18 stone giants but he does have some top level fighters on his resume. Pulev’s only professional loss was at the hands of Wladimir Klitschko in 2014 over in Germany in extremely impressive knockout blow.
Klitschko v Joshua is set to take place at Wembley Stadium on April 29th in arguably one of Britains biggest boxing matches and it’s the step up for Joshua we have all been wanting for, and demanding we see before we carry on paying £16.95 to see him knocking over dead wood.
Pulev was originally offered the fight before Joshua faced Eric Molina but aparrently turned the opportunity down. Pulev was ranked at the top of the IBF and was also the European champion but gave it up to fight Samuel Peter instead, a very poor move.
Pulev was offered aparrently a fee of around £800,000 to come over to the UK and face Joshua but didn’t feel to confident. It’s not a fight fans are dying to see when the likes of David Haye, Luis Ortiz or Joseph Parker are floating around the division, but it’s another payday for Matchroom and another man for Joshua to knock over.
