We have recently seen social media outbursts from both Amir Khan 31-4 (19ko’s) and Kell Brook 36-1 (25ko’s) as they continue their online feud and take shots at each other via twitter. The pair have been going back and forward regarding negotiations for a while however one thing we all seem to be forgetting, the dangerous Errol Spence Jr 21-0 (18ko’s).

After suffering a painful few weeks recently, Amir Khan took to-day time television with his wife to explain the recent issues they are going through surrounding the leaked video of Amir showing us his hand speed is still apparent as he gets caught beating his old boy off live on a Skype call.

The pair have been negotiating for a while now with Khan wanting a 70-30 split, and Brook wanting a 50-50 split. Neither are fair results as Khan is no longer the promising star he used to be, however Brook’s resume is nothing in comparison to Khan’s and receiving a 50% share is unrealistic.

Whilst all these wild negotiations are flying around, the IBF mandatory challenger Errol Spence is patiently waiting for his opportunity quietly. Spence is viewed as a high risk low reward opponent and poses an incredible threat.

Spence Jr is the younger man by three years and you can argue that despite him having 16 fewer fights on his resume, he has the more impressive wins. Brook’s had a successful victory against Shawn Porter but other than that, he has nothing of much relevance.

Spence has looked devastating on his rise up the world rankings and Brook has stayed very quiet about the possibility of fighting him as he looks at other avenues. Brook is not permitted another fight without defending his belt against his mandatory challenger so time is ticking on now and he needs to make a decision swiftly of risk being stripped of his belt.

Spence Jr has stated he is happy to come over to England to fight Brook but you can imagine him expecting quite a generous payday and he is not a well-known fighter over here in the UK. Putting this bout on Sky Box Office could be a dangerous tactic for Matchroom as it has huge potential to flop.

Brook is still holding out for the chance to fight Amir Khan & Manny Pacquiao, with the opportunity to unify the division against the winner of Danny Garcia v Keith Thurman still an option. However he cannot move forward until he sorts out the bogeyman in front of him!
