The battle of the two young undefeated heavyweights is on as 25 year old WBO heavyweight champion Joseph Parker 22-0 (18ko’s) will be defending his bet against his mandatory challenger 22 year old Hughie Fury 20-0 (10ko’s).

The belt was previously held by Hughie’s older cousin Tyson Fury but was vacated after he was stripped of his boxing licence. It was then contested for as undefeated Mexican fighter Andy Ruiz Jr made his way over to New Zealand to face him but came up short in a very close Majority decision.

The fight will be going ahead over in New Zealand as Frank Warren’s fighter will be heading over to fight under Duco Events on April 1st. We have seen their rise on the world scene as they continue to host big fights, also with Manny Pacquiao facing Jeff Horn over in Australia recently being announced.

The purse bid was just over £3,000,000 and the pair have agreed a 60/40 split which is good work by the pair of them. It does however question the funding Frank Warren has, you would expect he would have liked to secure a heavyweight world title on his new BT platform.

Hughie will have the height advantage over Parker as he stands 2inches taller at a huge 6ft6, however Parker will have the experience on his side as the opponents he has fought have been a lot better quality than Hughie.

If Hughie comes through victorious in what will be an incredibly tough challenge, it will set him up for some interesting unification clashes especially as all the other world champions have previous links to fighting his older cousin Tyson.
