WBC Silver Lightweight champion Luke Campbell 15-1 (12ko’s) is on course to face WBC Lightweight champion Mikey Garcia 36-0 (30ko’s) in an extremely exciting but tough clash for the former Olympian.

Campbell suffered his first professional loss in December 2015 at the hands of Yvan Mendy in what was an extremely tougher fight than Campbell anticipated. He was sent to the canvas early on but in the end it wasn’t enough to sway all the judges as he lost by split decision.

Since then he has built himself up and won the WBC Silver Lightweight title by beating Argenis Mendez and is now in line to face Jairo Lopez, an extremely disappointing and underwhelming match up.

He is however ranked highly with the WBC and if he exercises his right to pursue world honours in that governing body, he will be in line to take on the undefeated star Mikey Garcia.

Campbell has stated that he feels Garcia is a brilliant fighter and hopefully down the line he can face him, his promoter Eddie Hearn also said  “Of all the lightweights out there, I think Campbell is probably one of the best styles to do well against Garcia.”

We have recently seen Garcia in action last month when he became a three weight world champion, stopping former undefeated champion Dejan Zlaticanin in absolutely brutal fashion with one of the potential knockouts of the year.

Both Yvan Mendy and Argenis Mendez are two fighters that gave Campbell a lot of trouble and neither are on the level or have the power that Mikey Garcia possesses. My money would be on Garcia without a doubt! but it wold be an exciting fight to watch.
