The trilogy between Leo Santa Cruz and Carl Frampton is inevitable, whether it be an immediate one or later on in their careers, but the chance of it happening in Belfast is minimal.
Santa Cruz has revealed he would be happy to travel overseas to fight Frampton, however his trainer, manager and father has told him Belfast is not an option. Santa Cruz’ father has stated he would be robbed in Belfast and it’s not something he is prepared to risk.
Leo stated that despite his desire to fight overseas, his father’s decision is final and he puts complete trust and faith in his dads ruling, therefor Belfast is not likely at all. He did promise Frampton the third would be over in Ireland, however it looks like they will now be heading back to America.
“My dad is scared that if I go over there, and even if I beat Carl Frampton, the people and the judges are going to be an influence. No matter if I beat him, he thinks that even if I beat him I’ll have the victory taken away from me,” Santa Cruz told Villainfy Media.
