WBO Cruiserweight champion Oleksandr Usyk 11-0 (10ko’s) has announced he will be teaming up with father and trainer of WBO Super Featherweight champion Vasyl Lomachenko, Anatoly Lomachenko.
Usyk is campaigning in an extremely competitive and exciting division at the moment and could be in line for some incredible unification bouts. To further his career on the world scene he has got rid of his old trainer James Ali Bashir, he had this to say on the matter.
“Bashir is a very nice man and good trainer. He has his own approach to training. But the moment came when I realized that it was not enough for me any longer. That is why I decided to change everything that I did before. I am very grateful to him for being with me all this time. There is nothing personal, just business. I think we will stay in touch in the future.”
We last saw Usyk in action when he stopped Thabiso Mchunu in the ninth round in December of last year, but prior to that he picked up the belt in an incredible one-sided demolition job of former Polish champion Krzysztof Glowacki.
