WBA Regular Light Heavyweight champion Nathan Cleverly’s promoter Eddie Hearn has expressed his interest in making a fight between former WBC super middleweight champion Badou Jack and the Welsh champion.
Nathan Cleverly upset the odds last year as he faced the current champion Juergen Braehmer in his back yard over in Germany. Braehmer unexpectedly didn’t come to fight after the end of a round, and quit on his stool.
It was later revealed that the former German champion suffered an elbow injury and wasn’t able to carry on fighting, crowning Nathan Cleverly the new champion. There was however a rematch clause that Braehmer will be considering.
Cleverly has stated he wants to defend his title against Badou Jack since Jack vacated his WBC 168lbs title this January and moved up to campaign at light heavyweight. Unsure if this would end up on Welsh soil or in Jack’s stomping ground of Las Vegas, I can’t see this being a winnable fight for Cleverly.
Would be an exciting scrap though nevertheless!
