With the recent announcement that Hughie Fury’s trainer and father, Peter Fury will not be granted access into New Zealand to be in the corner of Hughie’s first world title shot, could this be the ultimate kickback for him?
Hughie will be putting his undefeated record on the line, to try to grab the belt that was previously held by his cousin, Tyson Fury two years ago. However, he will be trying to take it from hungry undefeated heavy hitter Joseph Parker who currently holds the WBO heavyweight title.
Peter Fury has previously spent 10 years in prison for running a drug empire which he continued to run whilst behind bars. Because of this, he has been denied access not only to New Zealand, but also to his nephew Tyson Fury’s fight in America against Steve Cunningham.
The bout is still said to go ahead on May 6th in Auckland, however Hughie Fury will be in big trouble without his long time coach and father in his corner as he is yet to fight without him. We know Hughie is an extremely impressive talent, although Parker carries huge power.
