This Saturday we have a fight that could shape up to be an absolute belter. Undefeated Mairis Briedis will take on Marco Huck for the vacant WBC interim cruiserweight title for the chance to face Tony Bellew, the WBC holder.
The 32-year-old Serbian born Huck, residing in Berlin, Germany is considered to be the underdog in this fight, but it’s no certainty. With a record of 40-3-1 (27ko’s) and a chin made of steel, this shapes up to be a very tough fight.
Huck will be putting his IBO cruiserweight title on the line against a very highly rated and undefeated Latvian star Mairis Briedis, 21-0 (18ko’s) on his home shores of Germany so the general feeling being that Briedis will either need a knockout, or a landslide victory to walk away with the titles.
Since being knocked out by former Polish champion Krzysztof Glowacki in 2015, Huck has continued his comeback with impressive victories over Ola Afolabi and Dmytro Kucher. Briedis has looked an incredible talent and is on a 7 back to back knockout streak.
With the power both men possess, and the chin that Huck has, this has all the ingredients to be an absolute cracker. The event stars live UK time at 7pm on Boxnation. Channel 437 on Sky and Channel 548 on Virgin Media.
